BHP Billiton Nanpo Mine To Help China's Steel Industry New Development
On September 6, BHP Billiton's technology and product experience exchange meeting was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. Jeremy Lewis, Vice President of global Iron Ore Marketing of BHP Billiton, delivered a video speech. Mr. Qi Bin, representative of China Iron and Steel Association, shared the analysis and outlook of steel industry operation. More than 200 guests from domestic and foreign steel enterprises, trading companies, colleges and universities participated in the event online and offline.
The Nanpo mine will facilitate the stable supply of high-quality Mack powder and Newman blocks, providing customers with a new option to optimize basic ore blending and production. The Nanpo mine will improve the average grade of BHP's iron ore products while maintaining low levels of harmful trace elements, supporting the low-carbon development of the steel industry.
At the event, Mr. Stephen Campbell, General Manager of BHP Billiton South Slope Mining Area, shared with the guests the project journey of South Slope mining area from exploration to production.
BHP Billiton's $3.6 billion South Slope mine, which opened on May 20 last year, is Australia's largest new iron ore project in 50 years, with a designed sustainable annual output of 80 million tonnes. Since July last year, Nanpo iron ore has been successfully delivered to Chinese customers
